This blog has the ambitious goal of reviewing and reporting information about many, if not most, of the various families of diet regimes available today.
What are diet families?
You could call them diet TYPES or diet CATEGORIES, but I like the term FAMILY because it best describes how the diets are grouped by their primary focus. A typical family, or primary focus, would be Weight Loss diets or Sport diets or Heart Healthy diets.
Some diets will be listed in more than one family, such as the Atkins diet which is primarily a weight loss diet, but it’s also known as an excellent Diabetes diet. The diagram below lists the diet families in my research that, in my opinion, are the best. If you are interested in a specific family, click on the diagram icon and it will take you to a page describing that family of diets and the various diets that form its members.
So who am I to choose what is best?
I’m not a physician, or a nutritionist, or a practitioner of any kind. So don’t take anything I say as medical advise. I’m just an old person who has spent many years researching, and indulging, in the things I love; food being near the top of that list. These are my opinions only and you can certainly disagree. If I’m mistaken about something feel free to leave a comment and we will both get smarter.
